The example on these pages will be geared towards setting up a 5-50 user network using Samba3 plus OpenLDAP. As few automated tasks as possible will be used to accomplish the tasks so that each step can be understood and then applied to any *nix distribution including Linux from Scratch.
A quick explanation of the basics of LDAP will be followed by a quick explanation of how Samba will be using LDAP. Reference links will be provided for more reading and understanding.
The most basic sample DIT tree needed for Samba3+LDAP will be shown both in graphic form and in the text form.
And finally, automated tools will be discussed so that once you understand the process, the process can be made easier for you with the tools.
